The audience is a mix. You’ve got couples on date nights, holding hands and sipping plastic cups of wine. Then there are groups of friends, already a bit tipsy by the time the support act starts. And of course, the dad who’s wearing a fleece in July. That’s you, probably.

Everyone is oddly polite. Someone drops their coat, three people pick it up. You spill your drink, nobody cares because the grass will just soak it up. It’s like a village fete, but with a laser show.

What About the Weather? (Don’t Laugh)

Okay, let’s be real. The weather is a character in this story. You check the forecast, it lies. You bring a raincoat, it’s sunny. You forget one, and a sudden squall from the North Sea drenches your left side only. It’s a gamble.

But here’s the secret: the rain makes it memorable. You huddle under a poncho with a stranger, laughing at the absurdity. Later, you’ll tell your friends, “Remember that night we nearly froze watching Simply Red?” That’s the stuff of legend.
