Nintendo didn’t just throw the games onto a chip. They paid attention to the details. The console is a miniature replica of the original SNES, complete with the gray, purple, and eject button that doesn’t do anything. It’s adorable. It’s like a toy version of your childhood.

The controllers feel right too. They’re the same shape, with the same “clicky” D-pad. When you hold it, your thumb remembers exactly where the A and B buttons used to be. It’s muscle memory from decades ago, and it works.

There’s even a rewind feature, because we’re all older now and don’t have time to replay the same level forty times. Fall into a pit in Mega Man X? Just rewind a few seconds and try again. It’s cheating, but it’s legal, and it feels so good.

How to Make It Part of Your Life

Set it up on a lazy Sunday morning. Brew a pot of coffee, put the kids in front of their own screens, and casually boot up Final Fantasy III. That game has a story that still holds up, with characters you actually care about. You’ll be surprised how fast four hours fly by.

Or, use it to reconnect with friends. Invite someone over, order pizza, and hand them a controller. Start a four-player round of Super Bomberman. Suddenly, you’re back in high school, yelling at each other over who dropped the bomb. It’s chaotic, hilarious, and way cheaper than therapy.

The best part? No subscription fees, no microtransactions, and no loot boxes. You own these games, forever. You can’t buy a new sword or a shiny skin. You just have to get good at Super Castlevania IV the old-fashioned way—by dying a lot.
