Let’s be clear: Nicky’s only sin was being in the wrong house at the wrong time. She didn’t snitch. She didn’t steal from the family. She just… existed. But in Animal Kingdom, existing near the Codys is a capital offense. You breathe wrong, and Pope starts measuring your neck for a hose fitting.

It’s a darkly comic reminder: this show is not about justice. It’s about how one bad family can ruin your weekend, your summer, and your life. Nicky learned that the hard way—forever.

Fun Fact: The Actress’s Real Reaction

When actress Molly Gordon (who plays Nicky) filmed that scene, she reportedly asked the director, “So, does he just let go, and I pretend to slump?” The director replied, “Slump like you’ve never slumped before.” And she did. Her performance was so convincing that some fans thought she actually died on set. Nope—she just went on to star in Booksmart, where the only strings involved are guitar strings. Phew.
