I’ll be honest: I used to think voice acting was the “easy” side of showbiz. You just talk into a mic, right? Then I watched a compilation of Ashley Johnson breaking down mid-scene because a line hit too close to home. That changed my mind.

She’s proof that the voice behind a character can be just as complex as the pixelated person we see. She’s a waitress, a dungeon master, a survivor of Hollywood’s weirdness, and the soul of an icon. So next time someone asks, “Who voices Ellie?” smile and say, “A pretty ordinary human who did something extraordinary.”

Also, if you ever meet her, don’t ask for a clicker impression. She’s done that at least ten thousand times. Just buy her a coffee and thank her for the nightmares—I mean, the masterpiece.
