Let’s start with the obvious: Dani Harmer returns as Tracy, and she is magnificently unhinged. Gone is the little girl with the scraped knees; now we have a teenager who has mastered the art of the withering glare. She still calls everyone a “plonker,” but now she does it with a level of professionalism that would make a CEO jealous.

The movie’s plot? Oh, it’s simple: Tracy decides to write a movie about her own life, starring herself, obviously. Because who else could possibly capture the raw complexity of Tracy Beaker? Not you. Not me. Only Tracy.

The Supporting Cast: A Rogues' Gallery of Legends

We cannot talk about this movie without giving a standing ovation to the “villain,” Justine Littlewood. Played by the brilliant Montanna Thompson, Justine returns with a perm so powerful it could generate its own weather system. She’s not just a bully anymore; she’s a comedic force of nature who delivers insults like she’s reading a Shakespearean sonnet of sass.

Then there’s Cam, Tracy’s foster mum, played by the ever-patient Lisa Coleman. In this movie, Cam gets to do something revolutionary: roll her eyes for 90 minutes straight. It’s a masterclass in performed exhaustion. You can practically see her calculating how many glasses of wine she’ll need after Tracy’s “movie premiere” inevitably ends in a food fight.

And let’s not forget the Dumping Ground crew. Rio, played by Myra Nath Galloway, is back and she’s still the only person who calls Tracy out on her nonsense. She’s the friend you need, but also the one who will tell you that your “movie idea” is actually just a list of grievances against people who ate your biscuit.
